Raw Delights has grown out of my desire to make tasty healthy products that people really enjoy.
I first experienced ‘raw food’ in Cafe Gratitude, San Francisco in 2006. Till that point I had no idea that some people ate only raw foods. As I began
exploring & experimenting, I found that I LOVED making the food, & friends & family loved eating
what I was making.

September 2012 - Raw Delights evolution

It does feel a bit like evolution, a little bit of anxiety and the pain of being pulled in two directions at once. My 'single-celled-organism' has now expanded, and in a way, I'll have 2 cells – with separate nervous systems, but an underlying value system that identifies the cells as undeniably related.

I'm taking my own personal body (and Dean's!) home to Australia, to explore the raw scene there, and create the Raw Delights business anew. This took some planning, as most international moves do, but I wanted to ensure that Raw Delights could continue in the UK. I didn't want to simply sell the business, most entrepreneurs will understand that feeling of 'it's my baby' that makes it hard to let go – but also, there is so much growth still to come, and so much I still have to offer. So I had to be patient, and cautious, and although it only came together 4 days prior to leaving the country, I have found a path forward.

We are standing outside the amazing Harts Barn Cookery School, in the Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. The Cookery School is Yvette's project, to enable a variety of food experiences be accessible and affordable to all – and this was how she met Deb, whose business is Deliciously Raw. Deb's passion is sharing raw food, through classes and workshops.

I met Deb at the Bristol Vegfest earlier this year, and as sometimes happens in life, we hit it off and became instant friends – though I had no idea we would soon be creating this new Raw Delights partnership.

Together the three of us will be taking Raw Delights forward – spreading further through the UK independent health retailer network, as well as continuing to sell through the online store and exploring the European market. Back to the evolutionary metaphor, with increased energy and diversity comes a flood of fresh ideas, skills and future options, so watch this space!
